90mm EDF Mirage 2000 (1/10th scale)

Real Mirage

The Mirage 2000 is to be seen as successors of the Mirages III and the Mirage V.

The prototype flew for the first time in 1978 and the first production aircraft in 1983,  in which also the first export orders were given by Egypt and India. The machine possesses delta bearing areas, with which them can increase their maximum speed on Mach 2.35. The tail finless delta configuration makes it master of the high-speed hunters in these heights. Mach 2 reaches it into 15,000 meters height in 4 minutes.

With a fly by wire control for the increase of the manoeuvre the airplane possesses excellent close-in engagement capacities. In an emergency the pilot can pull up g up to 13,5, without destroying the machine, - if the pilot bears this. Their acceleration is outstanding and it can even at high speeds fast turn.

Model Mirage (1/10 scale)

Last month Oct 2007,my 90mm Mirage 2000 caught fire after landed and found it was due to a faulty BEC after an investigation of parts were being carried out. The whole incident was being captured by a friend of mine and you can watch it in the "Video Gallery" under the "EDF Jets Video Section".

Ever since then, I am kind of miss my mirage, however I do not wish to purchase the same kit again. Therefore after some search on the net, I had managed to find this Mirage which is what I want.

This is a fully laminated ARF kit designed for a 90mm EDF or WREN 44 turbine. It is manufactured with the Herex sandwich vacuum technology, the fuselage and wings are in one piece, ensuring a very stiff structure. The rudder can be made removable for ease of transport.

After a couple of weeks waiting, finally it has arrived and landed at my door step.

Technical Specifications:

Fuselage length: 55” – 1,400mm
Weight: 5.75lbs

Check out those details and panel lines. I guess it's worth the money spent.

After messing around with the F-18, it is time for me to get back on this outstanding project. As you can see from the above picture, The joint look very unpleasant to me. I am going to sand it level and fill it with filler.

To obtain a better finishing on the paint job, I would reckon to sand down all uneven joints and fill with filler. This may take up some time as it require drying time for the filler to dry before sanding it.

Sand, fill, sand, fill, sand......is what I am doing at the moment..
